Yes, I've always liked the series although I had trouble finding a nice clean printable list of the books in order (without comments or other stuff) so I cobbled one together from multiple sources:

https://docs.google.com/document/edi...FQ3gngA8&hl=en

I even read the Robert Goldsborough pastiches to satisfy my NW cravings

http://www.nerowolfe.org/htm/corpus/...ough/index.htm

When I read that one of the first search tools for the internet was named Archie it seemed appropriate and a fitting reward for the voice of the series...

I always liked the stories where Wolfe had to leave the brownstone and fight the perils of meeting people (or worse for him: women) riding in strange automobiles even those not driven by Archie! (oh noes) Three Men Out, Wolfe at a baseball game, Die Like A Dog where Wolfe gets the brownstones first pet Jet the black Labrador retriever

Some NW's are better than others I guess my other favorites would be the ones where Archie gets off some _really_ cutting remarks....

and then there is the food I have always wondered what the meals there at the brownstone would have tasted like

one of my favorite NW reads is the Nero Wolfe Cookbook with its snippets of dialogue and the meals served, and the recipes...

It's all relative. That's 285 pounds -- I've known several people who've weighed more than that. To my modern perception, that doesn't seem obese (although it generally is.) Nowadays, to get the same effect, I think you'd have to shoot for something over 350 -- ie: something more than 1/6 of a ton.

Wolfe was created pre-Twinkie after all.

Have you tried here?

www.fantasticfiction.com

Books are listed by author, and in chronological order, with date. A great site.

<chuckle> I know people who weigh a lot more than that, but as someone else commented, they "put the morbid into 'morbidly obese'". On the other hand, there are pro US football players who weigh 350lbs and aren't fat at all. It is all relative.

An old friend who is a Wolfe fan once suggested that Wolfe's weight was a deliberate defense mechanism, because in his younger, slimmer days, a woman tried to poison him. His increased body mass is a partial defense against a repeat, as is his desire to stay as far away from women as possible.

(I am not familiar enough with the texts to say one way or the other whether that theory holds water.)

Unfortunately, a bit over a seventh of a ton, but I get around well.

I weigh considerably less in the pool!

Okay....after cutting and pasting, I could have inserted numbers or whatever I wanted.....also, many of fanfic's listings are numbered.

It was just an alternative for you.
