Trouble in Sydney
Dear Thatsthat,
Yep, last week my Kindle Whispernet worked like the magic that it is and last night--dead, empty bars are staring me in the face. I too live in Sydney on the North Shore where cellular reception is great (there would be a riot otherwise), so I am dazed and perplexed. I have emailed Kindle help desk and hope to hear back very soon. Will keep you posted. Allumez (Kindle in french) |

I just got a Kindle today (never heard of them before today!!) and couldn't connect. Googled and got this forum - used 311 in settings and got connected to 3G in Wollongong. All good now.
Thanks thatsthat |

Help! We can't even get to square 1 with our new kindle. Despite being registered with Amazon, we are constantly told - along with the "Kindle is unable to connect at this time" message - that we are not registered. We seem to be stuck in a loop: Not connected, so not registered. Can anyone suggest what to do next - or a phone number I can call for meaningful support within Australia? Thanks.

At the top right hand side of the screen. click on kindle support. then halfway down the page on the right hand side, click on the contact us button. Click on the phone tab and enter the appropriate details and click the "call me" button. Someone from Amazon KINDLE customer service should contact you relatively quickly. Doing this puts you in touch with Amazon Kindle cutomer service not general Amazon customer service. HTH |

This is in response to the person from South Africa about 'how do you know which network to select'...
hi mate - you don't ...the Amazon rep said it is a bit of a trial and error. Always start with the default 'best option' that Kindle suggests ...from there start connecting to individual networks to see which ones work best. My logic is this: 1) Set it to Amazon's Default 'best option' 2) Select 3G networks (they will be faster) 3) Select 2G networks 4) Try any of the others ... it can take many minutes and many repeated attempts. i seem to have stability again after taking 10 minutes performing the above exercise Last edited by thatsthat; 12-28-2009 at 09:13 PM.
