You can sort your books in My Document by Author and Titel. That way you should be able to find your book. If you need more search funktions you have to softroot your Nook and use the My Book library than or Trook for all of you stuff.

In My Book (softrooted) you even have the coverflow for your books

I have used Overdrive to borrow ebooks for both my nook and my PRS-300 with no issues. They do use ADE to download the ebooks, however, I import them into Calibre and use Calibre to sideload them to my readers. I shy away from PDF ebooks and tend to stick with the EPUB format because they flow better on both readers.

My Sony handles library loaned epub or PDF nicely, it handles DRM epub or PDF I bought nicely also. The only issue here is it cannot handle library loaned epub and library loaned PDF AT THE SAME TIME and I am not sure if this is an Overdrive issue. When people say the nook works for library loaned epub or library loaned PDF, nobody seems to have tried them both coexisting on the nook at the same time yet, so the "it works" is still doubtful.

The issue is with the Sony, the nook, or both?

When you say "at the same time", do you mean the same title or different titles in different formats?

I have both a Sony PRS-300 and a Nook 3G - the PDF/ePub is definitely a Sony firmware problem. My understanding is that Sony is using an older version of Adobe Digital Editions that can't support both DRM'd formats at the same time.

However, I find the PDFs to be difficult to read on either device, so I have to be really motivated to read a book to get the PDF (even free from the library). When I do, I strip the DRM, open the PDF in Preview, paste the text into Pages, fix any obvious OCR errors, paste it into to Sigil and do some minor cleanup. If the book looks like it will be readable, I save the Sigil doc as ePub. Some have so many line breaks that it just isn't worth it.

Note that I do NOT share the eBook, and I delete both the PDF and ePub from all my devices when I'm done reading. Like I said, I have to be REALLY motivated to get a library PDF to go through all those steps. Unfortunately, it isn't uncommon for Overdrive to offer different books in a series in different formats (ie Sookie Stackhouse is a mix of ePub, Mobi or PDF, depending on how old the book is in the series).

The issue is with my Sony PRS 300 with different library loaned DRM formats (not the same title) present on the device at the same time - I heard the DRM formats bought from the online ebook sites have no problems, only library loaned DRM files. Haven't tried both formats on the nook yet.

In my local libraries, some titles only have PDF version, some only epub, I have yet to see any title that come with both versions. I finally removed DRM to be able to put on the Sony, it's a shame that we have to do that for a library loaned title, but I just cannot image Sony has not solved this issue yet (they were the first to enter the e-reader market).

To be clear, yes, with a nook, you can load both ADE epub and PDF files to the nook and open either book without having to remove the other. I also has a prs-505 and would have to remove all ADE PDFs before I could open and read an ADE epub, or vice versa. This is not the case with the nook - load everything, then read as you wish!

Another use I've made of Overdrive Library & my nook is with the Audio books. I download them from my local public library (mp3 version), then upload them to my nook - they are viewed as music files. It's great for listening to on the commute to work.

Thank you so much, that is what I was looking for - I don't have both DRM formats to test on the nook now and have been trying to avoid that situation ever since I had issues on the Sony PRS 300, but still feel good that the nook can handle that in case someday I have to load both DRM formats on the device.

I have tried downloading a book using Overdrive through the Phoenix Library. It went into Adobe Digital Editions on my computer but when I sideload into my nook I get a "user not activated" message when I try to access it through the documents on my nook.

Also tried going through calibre with same result.

Did you authorize the nook with ADE? I've been borrowing overdrive books from the Pima County library (Tucson) and followed the directions from the site (see HERE, especially the link to 'How do I activate a supported eBook device using an Adobe ID?')

BTW, I am envious of the Phoenix Library's Overdrive collection. At some point I'm going to put $20 in my pocket and drive up there to join!

ETA: This nook feature review was one of the most helpful sites I found when I first got my nook.

Free reading is a good thing, and clueless is okay, too, cuz then someone else learns from your question. To help that, one does not "rent" books from Overdrive, one "borrows" them -- making them FREE FREE FREE.

I only pick on this one cuz I have seen references elsewhere about "renting" books from the public library and thot it might be nice to clarify.
