I've been loving the Might Bright book light that I bought from Waldenbooks. It takes 3 Triple A batteries and has two light settings, brighter and bright. Plus, it has a flexible neck that I am able to move around to fit my book-reading needs. Currently, my Sony-PRS 600 and the booklight have a permanent spot next to my bed.

It's great for bed, but a bit too bright (even on the lower setting) to read in a car at night without it illuminating the back and front seats. Although, that's fine for now since there won't be any more family trips out of state for a long while.

I have tried 4 different book lights, and the coverage has always drove me nuts! Color temperature too.

I now own a Princeton Tec headlamp, and it's awesome. Full coverage. And I look so cool wearing it! They use LEDs, with long (weeks) battery life, and the color temp is very good. I use the blues and they are close to the first pic in the thread. You can also use white, but it's VERY bright on my headlamp.

I like Princeton's products, and nothing beats their heat dissipation. I once had a different brand's LED flashlight that got so hot it would burn my hand. It was a total fire hazard! The Princeton stays completely cool, no heat problems at all.

Since the light goes on your head, it's easy to aim, stays in place (flashlights don't), and project perfectly onto your Reader.

This one I find very good:
http://www.mightybright.com/Book_Lig...uctDetail.html
very light, uses 1 AAA with one LED, gives a very even light big enough for the whole reader (due to the lens in front of the single LED). Stil the cold blueish LED-light, but otherwise perfect IMO.

As for the loop, I recognize that the Sony stylus wouldn't fit there but if I had a Sony stylus this wouldn't be a problem I do have one of those multi pens that has a stylus function on it so it should work, plus I think I can get some other styli that have pen clips on the sides which should fasten reasonably securely to it.

@Mel ~ I tried it in the outside pockets of my parka and I couldn't get it to go in. However, there is a pocket on the inside of the parka in which the reader with cover will fit nicely. Hope this helps.

By the way, M-Edge has a smaller leather book cover now that doesn't leave extra room for the book light at the spine. If you want a cover, that might work for you. Since I could almost get the cover I have in my outside parka pocket, I am certain the smaller cover would fit.

I think I have the same light. It works great but I didn't like clipping it on my cover behind my reader. It left scrape marks on the back of the reader.

The Sony cover measures about 5.9". Your measurements are making me think this could work, I was a little nervous because the M-Edge site says that it is 6.1" wide not 5.75". Were your measurements with the e-luminator in?

Otherwise I am thinking maybe I will buy one of the e-luminator's and try and figure out a way to build a pocket into a normal sony cover (which I already have) so the light hangs out over the top.

I think I'll be building a light or modding one of my existing flashlights as a book light.

Right now I'm using one of my old flashlights with the reflector removed.. it gives out perfectly even white light.

I did order a couple more keychain sized LED flashlights that run off an AAA battery to play with though

The M-edge PRS 600 illuminator 2 is now available. Fits the M-Edge for sony PRS 505 case that I bought for PRS 600. Uses one AAA battery and has 2 brightness settings. With the right angle, good enough to read in complete darkness! However, hinge and light switch not too sturdy. Did not seem bright enough at all in the day, but when I tried it in complete darkness, it seemed to do the job, even with the dimmer setting.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, and we have obviously "trended" this direction... But I think it's worth stating really explicitly.

Whatever you choose... Get an LED Light!

LEDs have improved massively, and their battery life is very long. It's either comparable with my Reader or longer in terms of life... meaning about 2 weeks at the rate I read -- and I do the majority of my reading at night.

I had the incandescent Itty Bitty Book Light, which required 2 C-Cell batteries (heavy!), and lasted about 1/2 to 1/4 the time. Compare 2 weeks or more with AAA Cell, and there's another major advantage: weight.

Incandescent bulbs are white, which is their biggest advtantage. But the battery life/cost is just not worth it. And the famously blue-tinge of LED approaches white quite well, though that depends on the light, as you can see from the first post.

I consider this the single most important feature in any Light. LED! There you go!

I did have the light in the cover. I just leave it there in case I need it. I've been stuck in the car without a reading light too many times to take the light out the cover. I think that if I were to completely flatten the folded cover without including the reader or the light, the width would be equal to the 6.1 inches stated by M-Edge. By including the reader and the light, the depth is increased and the width is decreased.

If you do some how build a pocket at the top of your cover, it could work because the light rotates on a hinge. At first, it's pretty stiff and hard to turn, but after a few uses it rotates much easier.

I got an early Christmas present!

I'll probably still make a clip on light of some sort, using some spare parts lying around, just because.

I didn't realize the light is actually two LEDs with a diffuser plastic over top. It's not bad, but it's nowhere near as even as a single Cree XR-E LED

Good news is that it folds back behind the reader without any effort.

I saw the weirdest thing - don't know if anybody found this one - it's a light that looks just like my hands-free for my cell. Wraps around the ear. It was on the Ectaco site for the Jetbook lite.

Ear light?
http://www.flashlightreviews.com/rev...y_earlight.htm
Something like that, probably different shape or colour I'd imagine.

Downside of most LED lights is that they tend to dim over time since their output is not regulated. Those tiny lights that use CR2032 won't last that long and batteries are more expensive (not too bad if ordered online, though)

If you're not using it often I suppose it might be a good idea. The lights that attach to your ears are pretty lightweight.

It really depends on your needs.

Another plug for headlamps. Many brands of headlamp is regulated, so it doesn't burn like crazy. My headlamp also uses CR123, which are very expensive (except online), but quite light. Regulation is key though, so I still get the 2 week burns with those batteries.

Lowe's has a baseball type cap with built in lights with two settings. They had a few other colors besides the one pictured here. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...060&lpage=none
