Check if calibre-parallel is in your path. If it is not adding, saving, converting... will not work properly. calibre-parallel is not in your path try adding it's location:

Problem solved by installing the new version! I guess something in the installation process must have run awry as it runs okay now!

Detection of calibre-parallel is not longer dependent on it being in your PATH.
