Just got back my PRS500. I had asked them if they could replace the battery and contact me for my credit card. Apparently, they did it for free! And fast....!

Excellent Service!! They have a customer for life!

Question: Is there any documentation to the new capabilities of the reader?

I just sent in my PRS500 yesterday, happily awaiting my updated unit. My other two readers are both Irex devices so I have nothing that reads ePub right now, my PRS500 is going to have some new life, its been collecting dust for the past 2 years

Because they would have higher costs if the people would screw it up in the flashing process.

Uh no. A phone call is cheap compared to shipping and flashing at the factory etc. and most people would not have a problem as people have been doing this with all kinds of devices.

Again if they could have done it that way they would have because the wouldn't have the shipping and employee costs of upgrading, tracking etc. each one.

So the answer to you question is still NO.

I have sony reader Touch. It is up and working, but I have tried to download the Library from the e-book - all went well but the program will not open.

Previously today I tred 4 seperate times to download this onto my computer and throught the download I kept gett "windows installer has closed

After letter the download run and clicking off every instance of WIHClosed, he files are in the right place and a shortcut has been added, however, yet again the program will not open. Sony seem to think the problem is that I bought the item in US but am now in UK, can that be correct?

what Operating System are you using. Did you or did you not get the Sony library app installed correctly?

BTW there are several other threads dealing with the Sony 3.1 Library software issues.

Just a little note that I sent in my reader last week, and just got it back in a 7-day turnaround. It went out in a little box (with 2 inches of packing peanuts all the way around) and came back in a great big box (6 inches of space all around with LOTS of bubble wrap. You'd think they'd save on this free service by using smaller packaging). I expected that it might have been delayed by the holiday shipping season, but no problems there.

I ordered the UPS shipping label via website, and the support tracking site never did update with my work order number. I was going to wait for 7 days to see if there were any updates. Patience saved me a call with Sony support.
