The Gamestop in my town in offering Modern Warfare 2 for $35.00 so I'm going to go get it.

We don't have it here either obviously, but what I've found amusing is that Apple Australia are having it, but calling it something like "TGI Friday Sale". It's cultural imperialism by stealth, I tells ya!

Donʻt some places (Canada perhaps?) celebrate some Boxing Day thatʻs kind of like the same thing, but after Christmas? Or not?

Someone explain Boxing Day to me again. Obviously the first time didnʻt take...

"Post-Christmas sales"...yes, we get those. I can't recall if they're Boxing Day though, as Boxing Day is a public holiday, but if not, it's possibly the day after. Or maybe it's the day after New Years Day...

Well, people should have to actually box things on boxing day. or box up things. Iʻm just sayinʻ....

(and yes, I believe wearing black on black friday would also be logical...)

I'll be keeping an eye on the online sales - much more civilised way to shop anyway.

I'm all for adopting Thanksgiving and Black Friday here in Oz if it means more sales

But hey, I just ate some pumpkin pie, so perhaps I've already been assimilated

And do you wonder why its called "Black Friday?" Because, traditionally, this is the first day many stores were actually "in the black" ink. Until then........they were running in the red. Thats how much business used to be done on this day.

I'm lost. Never heard of this before. Guess it's a northern hemisphere thing.

So now I know what Black Friday is! Of course we don't have that here in France, and I don't envy you one bit. Christmas is quite enough for me, thank you very much. I hate crowds, I hate shopping, and I hate having to buy and receive presents nobody really cares about anyway.

Wasn't there a Black Friday during the great recession (the one in the 1930's, not the latest), where the stock prices plummeted and everyone went broke?
