Hey AprilHare, congrats on your "upgrade" success!
Okay, so as of yesterday morning I received the box that Sony mailed out to me (have not seen it as the building manager has it) I will use it to send my PRS-500 back to Sony for the upgrade. I'm actually going to wait until after the holidays to mail it in, since I actually have time to do some reading during the break ![]() I'm actually really looking forward to the upgrade. I have one more .lrx book that I haven't read (The Road by Cormac McCarthy) but after that I needz my ePub upgrade!! |

Okay, I picked up my box. It was shipped on December 10th, and it was received on December 16th. The box has two sheets of foam, which would keep the reader fairly secure. I think waiting for the box may be a good investment - if the reader is damaged en route, not sure if Sony Canada will ship back a PRS-505

The ebook reader is for public domain books that I would have to pay for in paperback format. But when I have the choice between electronic media or paper for the same price, I'll choose the latter. It's simply a question of appropriate technology. There is only one advantage I can think of in using an ebook reader: compact size. On the other hand, paperbacks are usually cheaper if you get them used, they're more robust, don't need batteries, better resolution and contrast. This reminds me of people who use an electronic organizer instead of a paper agenda. I personally would never trust an electronic gadget with important appointments and telephone numbers, and nothing beats a paper agenda for quickly jotting things down.
