To clarify I'm not trying to legitimize these pirates. But not only is there the risk of innocents being caught in the cross fire, someone has to pay to enforce these laws. Ultimately that someone is the consumer/tax payer. Why should we pay, both literally and with our civil liberties, if there was no actual loss?

As to the suggested "liberalization" of already accepted practices, it's like the benevolent government allowing drinking beer in your own home on Sunday....
