It depends on the specific type of battery. The iRex devices contain Lithium-ion batteries. With them, the best practice is to keep them topped up (Ie, small frequent recharges are better than a full recharge). The only issue is that once very 30 charges or so you want to do a full discharge/recharge in order to keep the battery meter in calibration.

Doing a full discharge/recharge is bad for the battery though, so avoid doing so as much as you can (except for recalibration).
