Just a note: if you look at the compatibility matrix for this release, it says it doesn't support the 300 on Windows 7, which is a bit strange. I don't have a 300 and can't test that, but thought people should know.

Still won't open in Win7 64bit for me. I uninstalled the older version that I couldn't get working either before I tried this one.

Did you delete the Kinoma and cruft directories (I don't recall the other name) after uninstalling?

Ebook Library didn't recognize my reader last night. That's the first time that's happened to me, although I have had the device freeze up on me occasionally. Usually, I can do a soft reset and everything is fine. I just have to wait patiently for my reader to cycle through the loading process. This time, though, I had to do a hard reset and consequently lost everything on the reader. It's not really that big of a deal other than a loss of reading time and a gain of frustration. I also don't know if they actually fixed anything with the new version of Ebook Library. I had the same problem of the software becoming forever non-responsive when I disconnected my reader. One suggestion I had gotten from the support people was to unistall and reinstall the software, but then I would have to reload all my HUNDREDS of ebooks.

Has anyone else had problems like this with the new version? (Please, don't anyone suggest Calibre. I already use it but it does not support Bookmarks/Notes which I use extensively.)

I'm not having any problems. I uninstalled the previous version and then installed this one. Everything working fine in the compatibility mode.

I've just been prompted by EBL to download the new version. It's downloading as I write this...

Downloaded and installed painlessly. That's with XP Media Center edition and a PRS-600.

Is this not the same 3.whatever that had issues earlier this month (last month?). Is this 3.whatever the fixed one they promised?

Well, I just tried installing it again. What a POS. It was a bit better than the last update. This one at least showed my library and let me click on a book before it locked up. I uninstalled it and reinstalled the old version. It is version 2.5.00.09170. I have a copy posted at
Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/272362988/eBook_Library_Installer.exe
if anyone is looking for it. I'll just keep trying the updates till one works. I wish they would have just added the new features and lipstick to the old pig. It still doesn't offer any useful tools, so what did they do to it to make it so awful.

x Kazbates: I experienced more or less your same problem with this new versione. Since I installed it I noticed:
- the reader's recognition by windows xp was way slower than before
- the reader froze up many times
- i was wandering why I lost my collections after one of the freeze-up's... I must have done an hard reset without noticing....
- Sometimes when I try to start it up the screen stays blank and I have to try 2 or 3 times before getting it to work...
I'm quite desperate... what can I do for the last problem? Does it have a sort of formatting - return to the first options button?
Thanks!

If you're sure it's not a low battery issue, which can confuse things, then if the menu's similar to the 505's menu, look for a "Format Internal Memory" or similar under "Settings/Advanced". Just make sure that you've got copies on your PC of anything you want to keep - this would normally be the case. (One advantage of not having a Kindle, I suppose. :-))

I have not had any issues with the original software (other than the inherent inadequacies of it) so I'm not sure after all this I am inclined to upgrade. I think I'll wait until something valuable turns up in an upgrade.

I did both an hard reset and format internal memory but the issue with the start up didn't resolve. It keeps starting up and powering off after a few trials, it's random and incredibly annoying. Any ideas? Pretty please!!!!

Could it be anything to do with a particular volume causing problems? If it happens often enough to tell, maybe try copying back & trying one volume at a time & see if that has any effect?
