This is where I feel that Astak should improve since I could not find any detail of the device until I brought it, and return it of course. Unlike the other that they post the manual on the web so that I can download and read thru it before making a decision. This is to help finding the information I need easily. I wish that you could push this and having all the device manual on the web so that I can go look at it before buying it.

FAQ is also good but some how it is not up-to-date, I feel. Again, if there is any detail information on the change in each update it would be really helpful. Because I do remember that I update the firmware without knowing what is the new feature until I play with it after the update.

The problem is in the way each country writes their import laws. .
Some regulations have to do with the safety of the carrier (HAZMAT). eg. Dry ice (CO2) is very limited in how much can be used in packages shipped by Air because the gas build-up can kill the workers in the hold.
Some were just stupidly written and allow, as you pointed out, completed product to be shipped, but not a repair part for that product.
FedEx has a telephone sized book for their drivers to help them and their clients, with the complex customs rules of individual countries.
Code something wrong and it sits in Customs or needs 10 additional documents to "clear". The secret is to find the "magic" code to use without lying (a No-No that will get a shipper on the watch list ) that will allow your goods to Zip right through.

Solving International Ship of spare battery

Dear All:

We are almost done. There have been a few explosions (not of our batteries but of other batteries) that were sent by package in the past. So, every country seems to have different rules about this. That was the delay.

We now feel that within a week we will have this all worked out and posted on our website for International Shipping (www.astak.com). So, the solution is at hand and you will soon have access just like the Domestic Market.

Please be aware that freight to Europe and the U.K. can be expensive on batteries. The battery for the BeBook Mini is the same as for the Pocket PRO. IF you are living in Europe (to try to save you money) investigate buying the battery from BeBook as the freight should be less. We will have batteries available for International Shipping if you want them (in about one week).

Thank you for the feedback on BeBook not carrying spare batteries. That is weird. I will tell our people; and try to get BeBook to carry them.

I am sorry that this is so convoluted. SO much headache over something easy. They keep looking at it from the freight cost angle. The stupid freight will likely run more than the battery.

At CES, when I am face-to-face with the factory I will ask them to please go back to readily-available phone batteries in the future if they can do so.
