Is that with an SD card inserted? If the Opus doesn't crash without the SD card (or crash as much) then I'd seriously consider getting it and not using a SD card till new fw arrives. At least it will still have twice the storage of the Sony 300 and future use of SD cards.

I don't use a card in mine. Right after I posted yesterday I had it "crash" four times over the course of 2 hours. Very frustrating.

Given all the freezes, I don't think the Opus is really ready for prime time.

Any device that gets reports of lots of freezes would not be ready for prime time (IMHO). And good luck waiting for an update. As was said before, take the drvice as it is when you buy it. Any updates are just an unexpected bonus.

Looks like more waiting then. Or I need to consider another device...

There is a big difference between bug fixes and new features...

And once again, what's your problem with bookeen ? What have they done to you to deserve that ? I don't go on amazon's or sony's board just to complain... Come back the day you have something more constructive to say than "bookeen is bad", or "sony is good".

And while the freeze are an annoyance, the opus is still pretty much usable. Mine haven't crashed for a while.

Crusader, having used both Gen3 and opus, opus have my preference. Plus it's a bit less expensive

Don't know how I missed this. The Pocketbook 360 does look nice. Now if only I could find a retailer that ships one to South Africa I might get one instead of the Opus.

They don't promise anything.

Swap 'bragged' for 'promised' if you don't like the word. Same expectations created.

How bad is the freezing issue? If it happens every once in a while I'd be able to live with it, but if it's constantly getting stuck I'll have to wait for the firmware to get released.
If you're not a patient person, the last eBook Reader you'll want to get is a Bookeen one. If you're having a hard time stopping yourself from clicking the Buy Now button, you'll be fit to be tied waiting for a firmware update that fails to materialize after many, many false starts by Bookeen and many, many months of waiting.....

still waiting for my firmware update that has been promised for almost a year now

Since when "we're working on folders" means "you'll have folder working in the next update soon" ? As far as I know, the time bookeen setted a date for folders, it was april this year, and that not even close to "two years ago".

I my case getting the sd card off improved it. Also reset don't work with SD either. Quite a few bugs seams SD related actually.

An other few things, Pocketbook don't suppport DRM. (But I heard of an update comming, don't know, as I don't check the pocketbook forums..)
And beware about geographic restriction. Make sure to find some shop that will sells e-books to you before getting a reader.

I really want a reader, have been wanting one for ages and I finally have the cash available.

The PRS 300 is looking more like an option. It's about $150 cheaper than the Opus to get it imported to here.
