I use a bendy light on a stalk, which I position so that it shines from above, and isn't behind me to reflect onto the screen. That's just fine.

I am now seriously considering the case with light... Since I have ridiculously bad myopia and do most of my reading in bed I am struggling a fair bit with finding a comfortable way to hold the book and not have too much reflection. With my contacts in it is much less of a problem since the distance the reader has to be from my eyes is much further and therefore gives me a much wider range of possibilities in book position. But at night before I go to sleep the book basically has to be a few inches from my nose (I used to read heavy paperbacks balancing them on the side of my face) which gives me much less flexibility. I have seen the case for the 300 with the light in the stores and got him to take it out and show me on the 600 so I could get an idea. Seemed to work pretty well and was still pretty slim and compact. I haven't found a 600 one in person though and I am reluctant to take the plunge without actually seeing it in action.

I have to say, Mel, that I wasn't at all impressed with the 505 version of the case with the light. The light coverage was very uneven, and the "diffuser" which spreads the light out made the screen very "foggy". Perhaps, though, they've improved it for the 600?

I find the 600 Sony case light to be most comfortable with the light positioned just above the middle left-side of the screen rather than top down. In other words, just lift the light a few inches above its resting position and angle the LEDs to the right.

I wish I had purchased the black 600 as there can be quite a bit of glare from the LED's on the silver frame. You have to position the light just far enough left or above so you don't see the LED lights peering back at you.

HarryT: At night the 600 with light looks almost as good as the 505 at its best in daylight. In fact, I use the light in poorer light conditions to compensate for the reduction in clarity from the touch-screen. In artificial light I find the 600's screen to be similar to the 505 fitted with the light-wedge turned off, if that makes sense!

Harry--The 600 case with light is much different than the 505's. It actually incorporates a more traditional "book light" into the case.

I have the 505, and you're right the screen does look a little foggy. But I still like and use it almost every night.

Thank you for pointing that out - that is, as you say, completely different! Presumably the light is detachable?

No, this time the light 'unit' cannot be removed from the case.

Are there any cheaper lights that you would recommend? They don't have to be part of a case. 60 bucks just seems kind of steep . . .

Do you need a light that's attached to the device? A normal reading light works just fine for me.

I just got a clip-on booklight, since I do a lot of reading during the day so I only want the light when I'm actually going to use it.

I do have to say that some form of light is an absolute necessity for the PRS600... the contrast is too low for me to read under lower-lighting conditions. The booklight provides plenty light though.

I got mine at a gadget-shop, and it cost me 10 euros... you can probably find them cheaper if you want.

I would actually prefer something that isn't attached. I've never really liked book lghts attached to the book. Hopefully my regular lamp will work fine, but f it doesn't, do you have any reccomendations?

I just use a floor-standing lamp with a "bendy stem" that I bought from my local hardware store. Nothing special. It's one with a halogen spotlight in it.
