Alright, I've got pictures up, please excuse the poor picture quality of two of them, I've never done macro photos before. They are adequate to show whats necessary though.

http://z.spoonman.googlepages.com/k1TOCch.select.jpg
This is the Table of Contents, as you see it only displays 13 chapters. (not the scroll bar at the top)

http://z.spoonman.googlepages.com/k1...baroffpage.jpg
The same as above, however the scroll bar is scrolled past the bottom of the page. I believe I had it on ch.18 when I selected it, but you can't really tell until you hit the button.

http://z.spoonman.googlepages.com/K1searching.jpg
This is what you get when you hit the "search" button. (note that you have to hit "ok" in order to actually perform a search, hitting "search" again will close the search window)

http://z.spoonman.googlepages.com/k1searchedpage.jpg
As you see you have to select the passage from this page.

http://z.spoonman.googlepages.com/K1...dverseview.jpg
This is the searched verse view. An option available here, that wasn't in the sample you had for download for some reason, is to again select the verse and jump to Zechariah 3:3 and continue reading.

These issues are a bit trivial, aside from the index its quite usable IMHO, but its a bit slow.

The issues I had with the sample weren't in the full version for some reason, (you couldn't select the verse to read the full thing) I wonder if Amazon edited the file.

Hope this helps,
Spoon man

I love this edition. It works great on my Kindle 2 and I don't hesitate in the least to recommend it as the fastest way yet to search an e-book Bible.

Spoon Man, thank you for photos and detailed description. So, the Direct Verse Jump works in the full version. This is great. I don't know why sample was different from the full version. You say it is slow. I was told that Kindle 1 cannot search individual books. Every time you search Kindle 1 searches your whole local library. At least that's what people told me. So, I guess the degree of slowness would depend on how many books you have on your Kindle 1. This is just a guess though.

I see what you mean about the 13-link limit. There must be something that we are missing. A Kindle 1 owner on another forum indicated that he has another Bible with lots of hyperlinks and somehow it works. I guess the only way for me to get to the bottom of this is to find somebody with Kindle 1. Is there somebody in Northern Virginia (I live in Woodbridge at the moment) with Kindle 1 who would be willing to lend me their machine for a day?

WT Sharpe, thank you for the promotion and the ideas for improvement.

osnova, I wondered if you could be so kind as to share how one formats a Kindle book so that a keyboard search may be used for navigation and the joystick left and right will jump between chapters.

I ask not to make my own Bible but rather to help format my own documents or other Public domain books. I'm fully versed in html and am using MobiPocket Creator with ease. I've also had no trouble using named anchors and links (for a table of contents for example).

I just can't find any information anywhere on how to do incorporate the navigation like you've apparently done here for the KJV Bible.

Thanks!

Osnova, do you have any plans to release other versions of the Bible? I'm looking in particular for either the New American Standard or New Living Translation.

I'd love to but NASB and NLT are copyrighted. (The NET Bible team has asked me to make a Kindle version for them) I've bought the Kindle NASB and it is properly formatted. The only thing missing is this DVJ navigation. If you have contacts at the copyright holding entities, I am willing to help them incorporate DVJ into their Kindle versions.

Thanks Osnova, after I first posted that request, I found your other threads (here and at KindleBoards) regarding the NET Bible and I have purchased that. Thanks again for your work!

I regret not finding your site earlier, but we just got our Kindle. My daughter's is a 2 and ours is a 1. She and I are both heavy users of the Bible -- both personal study and in Sunday School teaching. My daughter is also attending Bible college classes.

I was a software tester before retirement, and have quite a bit of time on my hands now. Would love to help in providing the KJV on our Kindles.

I just registered here and will update my profile where you can easily contact me. Thanks!!

Thank you for your offer. The testing is the most important thing for Bibles on the Kindle. I am always afraid that I have missed something. This is not really software yet the testing should be similar.

Specifically, I'd ask you to see how my Bibles work on Kindle 1 and what would you recommed to improve it on K1

The bible is a great work of fiction, but not really something worth converting to the Kindle.

I'm sure that degree in creationism is going to get your daughter somewhere.
