I would not put one plastic film on it, it would just protect it from scratches but not from pressure. Plus I bet it would loose readability and all...I love the way the screen looks just as is.
I think the idea of the DVD metal case is a great point.

It moves a little back and forth but only on that side, the right side is tight.
Any ideas or comments about this? Anyone having a similar problem?

which cover should I get to ensure full protection of my reader since it is on a back pack all day?

A friend of mine has the same problem with her Sony 505.
Doesn't seem to be that uncommon.
Maybe that's the reason, why they gave their new Sony 300 "plastic framing"?

Personally, I don't like it. Looks a bit cheap, 2 different materials with slightly different colors. But avoids the troubles you describe.

My suggestion would be, using a cover which doesn't use the "holes in the frame", but where you slide the reader into.
For example from tuff-luv.
I guess, using the holes puts traction on the frame and that's why it's partially loose.

The top and bottom plate are plastic, not metal.

I just checked and the rim is loose on my 505 on the top side, around the 'hole' for attaching the cover. And the 'silver' paint is a bit chipped on both sider. I do change to the lighted cover every night, so the areas do get a bit of wear and tear.

June--One thing I've started doing that works very well for me is simply removing the light wedge from the cover with the light. I just leave the reader in the same cover all the time. The cover is a little bit more bulky than the standard reader cover, but it does fold back nicely when I'm reading.
