I stopped keeping SD cards in my reader over a year ago due to battery drain issues, so at least my resets aren't due to cards. I keep my reader synced with the sony software, I don't load books any other way, so it's fairly easy for me to wipe and restore, since the sony software acts essentially as a "master copy."
I like the clearing history idea, seems slower but less extreme than a total wipe. I'll definitely give it a try.

@petercreasey Yeah I was also having similar problems additionally my PRS-505 was also starting to act a little sluggish, esp with ePUB. So I decided to re-flash my PRS-505. After that I've not had any issues with the PRS-505.

Warning: you will lose everything if you reflash.

X, I have not heard of "re-flash". What is "re-flash"?

Reinstall the software....like an upgrade...re-flash the memory/operating system in the device.

I'd suggest a saving of any files on the device you want to keep then a Settings/Advanced/Format Internal Memory first, as that may be sufficient.

It seems clear, thus far, that the freezing anomalies are related to which books are being read. I've read several books since the freezing incidents occurred and have not had any more freezes with the recent books.

Also, with one book, the page turning was extremely slow. With subsequent books, the page turning has been at normal fast speeds.

I'm pretty sure the freezing and slow page-turning problems were with non-Sony books that were loaded by Calibre, probably in ePub or pdf format.

As a result of my observations, once again thus far, I don't believe that re-configuring my PRS 505 would solve any problems.

I've discovered something close to the same.. when I drop books into the folder on 505 vs using the Sony eLibrary. (I don't use a SD card as I only keep about 175 books on my Reader--enough to keep me busy reading for a while and just enough time to acquire more books to add)

If I use the eLibrary the books (epub, lrf/lrx, custom pdf from feedbooks) are prepagnated and work well on page turn speed and font size changing... I've only had one major problem, and that was with a very large pdf file that froze my Reader (a Marco Polo book from PG).
