Saturday: The Sony shop in Uxbridge have the 300 and the 600 (and a 505). Waterstones have a display, but no stock yet of the new ones.

I played with one in Waterstones today and was very impressed with it. I have 2 of the 505's and love them too. The screen is very slightly sharper on the 505, but the 600 is so much faster and I loved the responsiveness of it. I never intended to buy one, but ended up coming home with one today.
The screen is far more reflective than the 505, but easily gotten over by angling it slightly or using a clip on light which helps immensely.
The 505 is a bit sharper, but the 600 much quicker/snappier and the screen clarity is not as obvious unless they are next to each other
.
The killer point for me is that I was never able to successfully add my full library to the 505, I could never get more than 600 books on the 505 using the memory card slot, without it freaking out, resetting or giving invalid pages......tried the 600 and it has happily taken all 921 of my books on the memory card, only slowing on first opening the book, once opened it is like normal. No invalid pages, no dropped collections or bookmarks like I got with the 505, so I am very happy about that, and this alone makes it a worthy upgrade to me. I can say I love the 505 and love the 600 too.

If screen in paramount to you then the 505/300 may be better, though the 600 clarity is not as bad as its been made out and I was pleasantly surprised by it, but it does reflect more than the 505, a little annoying but easily gotten over by angling. The dictionary and annotations are a great bonus for me too, something I always wanted my 505 to do.

I got mine from the Sony store and haggled a £25 discount, so Im happy enough. Got the Proporta leather cover and its fab, very rigid and great quality, the sony covers were more flimsy and I felt the screen was not as safe as in the proporta one.

I saw 600/300 in the local Waterstones yesterday.

I have got a strong impression that Waterstones do their best not to sell the reader.
The reader is placed in a relatively dark place. It is permanently screwed to a stand! You cannot take it into your hand to get a feel of the gadget, you cannot check it at different angles to whatever light you have there. It is placed very low. I am a short man, 175 cm and I had to bend down quite a lot in order to be able to operate it and have it against my face at the proper angle. It was positioned between my chest and navel level if not completely vertically, then very close!
Cannot imagine worse representation of ebook reader. Looks like they are doing their best to scare off potentional customers.
I told their manager/senior sales person, not sure, about it, he said it is done for security reasons!!! and will not be changed! He didn't even want to talk to me, he looked annoyed when I mentioned the problem.
I wonder whether Sony realises that they loose sales because of at least one book shop?

As for the reader itself.
I noticed that menu for a book lost Begin, End options.

some of the menu items from the 505 are in the 'options' section of the 600 once the book is selected.....you get....

Go to Page
History
Table of Contents (you can reach beginning/end from there)
Search
Create/Edit Notes
Hide Notes
Return to list
Delete book
Info
Orientation

hope that helps.....

Question: I notice the a few ebooks, that I have chapter listing, for 2-3 pages long. With the 600, can you click on any chapter and go directly to that page?
