It's common for English language books to be restricted by area: Europe as a whole is covered by British publishers.

I wonder if the removal of parallel import restrictions in Australia will alleviate this sort of BS here. It's a bit of an issue in current affairs in Australia, with local authors decrying the idea as BAD(tm), as it will kill the local publishing industry, and big companies (Coles/Myer,Woolworths and Fairfax) saying it's a win for Free Trade.

I've already purchased some geographically restricted eBooks from fictionwise, but it doesn't work anymore, no more monies for them I guess.

I thought that I sent you a PM regarding BooksonBoard and their UK branch.

Try that, and I think that you'll find that it works.

Yes you did. I just read it and will give it a try. Thanks for the advice.

I am in no way ticked off with Fictionwise over this. I am sure they would love to sell me books. The problem seems to be with publishers. They want to sell me books but are in a bit of a scrap over who has that right and in the meanwhile I have no rights.

I have found that I can buy at fictionwise with my UK paypal account, so long as the delivery address specified when making the paypal payment is a US address. Luckily I was in the US a few years ago, and added such an address to my paypal address book.

I'm not sure it possible to do that now. But if you do already have a US delivery address on a paypal account, it's worth trying that. You will definitely need to specify "US' in your fictionwise account.
