It entails shutting off DEP (Data execution prevention). I'm not exactly a computer whizz, but I realise that by doing this I lower the safety of my pc. In this setting DEP only works for essential Window components. The wiki has a good page on DEP.

My ebl 3.0 works faultlessly now (I had no trouble with ADE at any time, but this still works as well). So perhaps it's worth trying. It's a bit of a hassle to have to shut off DEP every time I want to hook up the reader as it requires a windows reboot, and having to change the setting again after I'm finished, but I got it working again. You could always choose to do without ebl and just use Calibre for instance.
Thanks for the tip, I'll try.
I don't want to do without EBL 3.0, as I've got about 300 BBeB books from Sony. Okay, I could copy them manually. Problem is, I still would need EBL in parallel. I only want to copy the books, which look "fine", for example sticking to the naming convention (don't want to mix for example "James Patterson" and "Patterson, James" and "PATTERSON, JAMES". Just looks horrible when sorting by author). So I check in EBL and then only drag and drop the ones I like. Of course I could delete the wrong ones and manually could copy all the ones that remain, but I'd like to keep my collection intact and in a single place...

Someone else mentioned making sure your Java was up to date. Don't know if that's right or not, but couldn't hurt to try if you run out of things I guess.

version 3 issues

There's a thread under the 500/505 forum regarding this issue. The problem seems to be with the "updated" version 3. When I installed the new version 3, I couldn't get the program interface to open (I could see the exe running in task manager) much less try to transfer books to my reader.

Many of us are hoping Sony fixes their program while we went back to version 2.5.

With Sony 300 and Sony 505 as well.
I've deleted the entire library and then only added a single BBeB, purchased from Sony.
Adobe Digital Editions and calibre are working without any problems. Really strange...
Sorry it didn't help.

Let us know what helps. Mine has been fine since I got rid of the "problem" books, but with all the problems I keep reading about, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing starts happening.

I'm ONLY using the Sony 600 ...

Ebook library 3.0 is crashing with both my 500 and my 505. It doesn't seem to like dragging and dropping. And it's much slower than its predecessor. I've got about a thousand books on it: mostly my own home-made LRFs.
I intend to give Sony a week to fix it; then revert to an earlier version if they haven't.

Only crashes with internal memory, not with cards

I had the problem, too, so I emailed my case to the Sony support. I have received a response in less than 12 hours. I followed the instructions, and now the elibrary works without any problems.

My problem seems that my old elibrary instance started in background, which conflicted with the new elibrary program. In my case, I removed the old elibrary from the startup program lists.

I don't know if this was the root cause for all of you, but you can contact the Sony support to solve the problems.

Best wishes.

The strange thing is, I can change or add collections on the connected readers. And I can copy to the memory cards. It crashes when copying to internal memory only.

This is exactly what mine does and I can't load it with either my 505 or 600 plugged in or when neither is plugged in. This is just a pee take!

Newbie here. I have just purchase the PSR 600. The main downfall is that Ebook library 3.0 on Vista does not work at all with the device. Luckily I am running a virtal machine with XP installed. Is there any other work around. Tanx.

Did you get Sony's response by email? Could you post it then?

Basically, this tip made it for me!
I had to include my PDF driver as well, there has been some kind of additional conflict: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...81&postcount=1
