Are you serious? Just paid $279 + tax for mine yesterday at Target. It's not listed on the Border's Website.... just the 300 and 600 Last edited by kennyc; 09-02-2009 at 02:50 PM. |

Hi everyone, figure heres a good place to introduce myself. After reading about the the new Sony devices I started looking into the Sony readers as they seemed to match my needed feature set. I had no desire for touch screen and I was concerned the 5 inch screen on the prs-300 would be too small. However, BJs had the 505 with case(which is seems like it always included?) and AC adapter for 200. It was basically exactly what I wanted at the price I wanted. I've been very happy with it so far for the past few day. The only annoyance I had with it was fixed nicely with the customizer on this site (I wanted the clock on the reading screen). Anyway, for me, the 505 was a great valid choice.

I wouldn't buy anything other than a 505 if I were to do it again. For me, none of the other models are better.

For me the 505 is still the best device out there. I do not really want the touchscreen which also makes the screen a bit darker. The 505 still has the best screen and the best controls.
I will not upgrade until I break it. |

I love my 505. It'll always be my first love, no matter how many more readers I get.

SolRaven,
Great photo and great comment. At the same price, the 505 blows the 300 away. As the 505 price climbs closer to the 600, the choice becomes more difficult. You get better resolution with the 505, but a dictionary with the 600. Some folks like the touch screen, and there are those who prefer the buttons on the 505. It is a very subjective choice. I say tomaeto, and you say tomaato. |

Here's hoping that as the ebook market grows there will eventually be a time when we see a non-touchscreen device from sony that is the clear successor to the 505.

Absolutely! Way more features. I'm just considering adding the 300 strictly based on size and ability to stick it in my pocket, etc... |

I'm not tempted to "upgrade" my 505 to anything on the market yet. I refuse to take even a tiny step backward in screen contrast. Unless mine breaks my next e-reader will have improved contrast and resolution.
I used to think I needed a dictionary in my reader but I've gotten used to whipping out my iPhone to get dictionary, Google (voice input!), and Wikipedia references at a whim. |
