Just to let everyone know, the Sony online store is indicating a Backorder on the 600's. No indication as to when it would ship. Bummer. |

I took a look at the SonyStyle store in Manhattan yesterday. The 600 looked very good: the screen contrast seemed quite decent, until I compared it to my 505. But while the 505 definitely has blacker blacks, I thought the 600's contrast was OK, definitely better than the 700. I also played with the note-taking ability. Am I wrong, or does the note-taking seem a little stiff and slow to respond? It did not seem as easy to use as my old Palm Pilot. |

The note taking is not as sophisticated as some of the newer stuff out there, but it's better than nothing. It is actually very reminiscent of the note taking ability on my EBW 1150.

A couple of videos showing the new Sony Readers. Sadly, I noticed that the glare on the PRS-600 screen was quite visible in both videos, especially the end of the first video when the girl wave all three Sony Readers in front of the camera. |

My 600 was supposed to ship Friday from sonystyles.com. Just got an email that says September 8th. Hopefully sooner but that is the estimate.

Recently I was set to buy the 505, then the 300 and 600 were announced. Now I am waiting to see these first hand before making a commitment. By then there will undoubtedly be something else available It reminds me of the first time I bought a PC. I finally just said the heck with it and took the leap. doc |

I was just at Nellis Air Force base (I'm a USAF retiree), and picked up another PRS-700 (I really like mine, so I picked up one for the spouse) for just 199.00 US, and they said that they were expecting the PRS-300/600 sometime in the next couple of weeks. Those of you who do have access to NEX/AAFES, I suggest that you check out the deals, since rumor has it that all bases are clearing them out, including the PRS-505 for around 175.00. |

lilac, I preordered mine from Borders. They are saying mid September is when they are coming in. I cancelled the order and ordered it from Abt online. It is in stock and being shipped out Tuesday Morning with free shipping and no sales tax. The site says 4-5 business days shipping within the continental U. S. so am hoping to get it Thursday or Friday next wk. Will have it a little over a week before they arive at the Borders where I live.

Does anyone know if the 300 or 600 support chinese. As in is it possible to just view/read simplified chinese on them?

I am fairly certain the answer is No. I remember someone else asking about that in the 700 forum. Since Chinese was not supported on the 700, I'm betting that it will not be on the newer models.
