As far as carrier support in europe, hopefully they are talking to vodafone as it would make it a lot easier to launch in multiple countries that way even if it means that they won't always be dealing with the #1 carrier in a particular country and with the limits on the wireless functionality there would even be the potential for them to roam across europe without a problem.
I think it's just our shorthand.

I am wildly speculating here, but Vodafone Germany has already announced a big screen reader in early summer. This could very well be meaning that they planned to go with the Daily all along,

I remember reading about that as well and you would think it would be an easier option for them to partner with sony than it would to start from scratch as it were.

If that does turn out to be the case, you do have to wonder if there would also be a vodafone book store as it wouldn't seem to much of a stretch to expand on the infrastructure they already have with their mobile music store stuff.
