C. Opus problem with freezing
hi,
I encountered such a problem with my cybook Opus: It doesn't see the sd card, (Kingston 2GB microSD not HC) The Opus doesn’t see it. If the Opus is switched off and I insert the SD and switch on the reader the Opus works but doesn’t see the card if I insert the card while the Opus is already switched on it completely freezes, only hard reset helps. PC connection: The Pc doesn’t see the card either if the card is already in the Opus while I am connecting the Opus to PC. But if I insert the card while Opus is already connected to the PC, the PC detects the card, and after I disconnect the Opus from PC (with the card in Opus ) the reader see the SD card. And this is the only one case when the opus see the Card and doesn’t freez. In all other cases with inserting the card into the Opus the reader doesn’t see it or freezes. software version : boo reader 1.9 ?? What to do?? Regards Mike |

I love my Opus! The feel pleases me with edges more rounded, as does the white rather than all that black. I like that it's small and fits into one hand or my bag easily - it's so light! And I love that no matter what angle I happen to grab it, there is the text for me to read, with controls auto set to read it up down or sideways. The menus are great as well with lots of options. To me the controls are simple and easy to use, sometimes the page turning is a little sticky first few times 'round, but it eases up after a few weeks. Opus is pretty basic and basic is what I wanted.
Although it comes with Adobe standard, I'm using the Mobi firmware on the Opus right now. It has the capability of shifting from one to the other without losing all your books. I now have access to several secure formats using only the Opus and my iTouch. Sweet! The Kindle/Kandle light would have worked beautifully with Opus, clipped on very snugly and the light was great - when it worked. I'm debating whether or not to try another one, maybe after the bugs are worked out. Bookeen was very gracious and prompt when contacted, I'm not sure why others have had problems. I wouldn't trade this little baby Opus (have Gen 3 also) for any ereader other than the phantom that's supposed to come out and dispel all DRM. And then only if it's this neat.
