Sort of! My first one came as a Birthday/Christmas gift from my sister and brother-in-law in 2007; they asked if there was one thing I would like as a combo gift-guess what I suggested. I had hopes but I was stunned when I opened the box and saw what it was; you couldn't pry it out of my hands!

Given his tastes - why not go to the Baen Free library? Baen sells (and gives away) quite a bit of the sort of stuff you said he likes - and it's all DRM free and available in either LRF or ePub.

Thanks! I was trying to remember who it was that had SF freebies; I couldn't remember Baen! I'll have him search the site for books he's interested in and load them on his Reader.

'Scarlet' wil be here tomorrow! I've gotten 'Old Blue' cleaned up, charged and loaded with about 2 dozen books for my Dad; I may add a title or two more tomorrow- He was talking about Mission of Gravity by Hal Clement which he read decades ago so I searched and I found it & it's two sequels published together in ebook format (Heavy Planet: The Classic Mesklin Stories). Miracle of miracles it's at the Sony store and it cheaper there than Fictionwise ! I'll most likely add that tomorrow while I'm awaiting the UPS delivery, between 2 &5 p.m.being their normal time frame.

B&H is such a wonderful company with which to do business! In all the years that I've been buying from them and having them ship to different locations abroad (18 years now!) I have never once been disappointed and often gotten the same 'faster delivery' that you just discovered! Great prices, wonderful customer service, and excellent merchandise!

I bought my Sony 505 about six months ago from B&H as Amazon refused to ship to me here in Japan. With B&H I had the reader in my hand less then a week after I placed the order. If I remember correctly, it was just five days!

The only drawback to buying from them is that you have to pay attention to the Jewish holidays. They close up shop on Friday afternoon until Sunday morning, and close up for all of the holidays, not even accepting on-line orders during those times. Fortunately, they usually state the holiday closure on their front page, so one only has to pay attention.

Ok this is my first post, the Red one is a thing of beauty. I first came across the Sony 505 about 6 months ago at the John Lewis store I think the price was £199.00 and at that time I was not interested. Then 3 months ago a work colleague showed me hers, still not interested until she pointed out all the free classic books I could download WOW!
She had brought her Silver one for £179.00, but I wanted a Red one and I was not happy to pay £20.00 more for it Then a couple of days ago I saw Play had the Silver one for £149.99, I was about to give in and buy it when I thought I would check @ John Lewis and joy of joys they had the Red one online with free delivery to store for £149.00 I ordered it immediately and collected it yesterday afternoon it is outstanding. I have downloaded Calibre, I like the way it updates the newspapers automatically. Thank you AndyBaby for the M-edge Review I have purchased a Red and a Black one, also thank you to the member who pointed out the minimal postage increase when buying 2 at the same time I will sign off now, take care all. G.

My Dad is a photography nut (Leica, Rolleiflex and Hasselblads, oh my! ) so he's dealt with B&H for years, there's always a catalog of theirs in the house.

I knew about the closing for Jewish holidays and Sabbath; I had to wait until after 6:30 PDT/9:30 EDT on Saturday to place my order.

Meanwhile I'm still waiting for the UPS truck to pull up; he's probably going to be late just because I'm so impatient!

Scarlet finally arrived at 5:30 tonight and she looks right at home in my red Dooney & Bourke case;I'm glad I didn't get an Oberon cover yet. My Dad is already enjoying his "new" Reader and is thrilled with his new acquisition!

Congratulations!! Dooney & Bourke... Humm, better watch that one. "Scarlet" sounds like she has a taste for luxury.

Zip around, I never saw that one! Mine is the one Sony had early last year; you can see the pictures of mine here (post #52) https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...=dooney&page=4

A zip around would be nice; I'll have to look for that one!
