No crash for me, but it doesn't work right either. I can go for about five pages then ADE appears to lock up, but eventually does display the next page. It then takes 30-60 seconds to go to the next page for a while and eventually I can go another five pages before it does the same thing again.

I was able to view it perfectly in Adobe Reader. Maybe the problem is in trying to use it with ADE?

As others had already said it works fine in Adobe reader and therefore if it is a standard PDF should be the same in the Sony library on the 505 and presumably ADE . I for one would certainly not bother if the only way I could read it was on a PC LCD.

I just spent 60 seconds converting it to both LRF and Epub with Calibre 0.6.0 ( not bothered to update yet ). the resulting LRF reads without glitches in Sony library and the epub in ADE. (Kovid rules!!) but I have not read through the whole files & there may be some issues.

I wonder what is in the PDF that stops Sony's ebook library and ADE from reading it, both crashing and forcing an exit.

My Sony eBook Library software doesn't crash, but gags (Vista gray with revolving coffee cup ring) for about 30 seconds on the graphics pages with the slanted cross on them (absolute page numbers [not the page numbers on the written page] 6, 16, 174, maybe more). The text on those pages is not found in a search in Acrobat Standard. Haven't tried loading to my Sony 505.

[EDIT: Corrected to remove incorrect problem statement about Calibre--I just didn't know where to look for the file, apologies.]

I don't know if this is helpful or relevant but I opened the .pdf with Mobipocket Reader which then sent it on to my Kindle 2.

Reads fine on the Kindle with very minor formatting issues.

The PDF crashes/locks up the Kindle DX (hey oprah, maybe you should try these things first?). Ripped it apart and found references to a few massive png files, which display as a big black box here. So, removed them from the directory, then edited the html (which is a mess of font references and some hard coded page numbers in the non-working TOC) and generated as a mobi file. Without the extra pic's, it seems to work fine and is considerably smaller in size: <500K (had two copies of the cover embedded, as well).

Anybody remember the html to add so that mobicreator forces a new page? Yes, I'm too lazy to look it up (and have it written down here somewhere), but it would be nice to force a new pg here and there before I call the conversion good.
