I voted for ePub, but I do use LRF once in a while. I think I'd use LRF more if I'd take the time to change the font on my reader. Right now, I just embed the fonts I want in my ePub files. I do like the full justification of the LRF's as opposed to left only justification that ePub displays. I also don't really like the "page" numbers on the right side of the ePUbs and wish there was a way to turn those off.

For me lrf.
ePub without justification, and that joke of the page numbers hanging around, no way. |

I also keep the source files, if I have them, just in case.
I store the books I'm keeping on the PC, not on the Reader. For the most part I remove books from my device after I've read them. I have a non-synched "Deleted from Reader" folder on Sony Library that I drag them into, so they're easy to put back on the Reader if I ever need to. The only time I've appreciated the "old" page numbers on the EPUB files is when I'm reading the book for academic purposes. Sometimes I need to cite the "page number" of the print book. The problem is I have no idea what you are talking about. I am not sure I want to learn/invest my time into it. Maybe I better spend the time for reading a good book? Maybe I am a lazy git. Maybe I am not smart enough to master the knowledge. Who knows? The day when Book Designer is updated for creating perfect epubs is going to be the day when I become epub convert ![]() |

I have lrf and epub on my 505. Both are perfectly acceptable to me for reading. The lack of justification and the ghosty page numbers don't bother me. However, epub is non-proprietary and for that reason alone I prefer it. (Plus I understand how to make up epub files and have a trivial piece of vb.net to assist me in doing that - so I don't need to invest time in understanding lrf).

An ePub file is nothing but a ZIP file containing the contents of the ePub. toc.ncx is a file that defines the external ToC. So you extract the file toc.ncx from the ePub and then using a text editor, you can remove the anchors. I use Notepad++ which is a free editor because it supports tabs, loading of multiple files, and regular expression for easily removing the anchors. Then when the anchors are gone and the file saved, just put tit back into the ePub in place of the one there and done.

![]() LRF looks better on the Sony, but ePub is the future. LIT is a wonderful format to convert over to something else with Calibre. Once ePub gets full justification on the Sony (will it, now that the 505 will no longer be made?), LRF will go the way of the DoDo, I bet. ![]() |

I'm with astra on the anchors.
I voted LRF. I find if I cycle through all the fonts at the beginning I can usually get fast font changes when I want them (I need a larger font for reading in bed than at my desk). I don't mind EPUB's page numbers on the side too much - though sometimes they are a little obtrusive - and I can take or leave full justification. What I don't care for is the fixed pagination that bears no resemblance to the screen. I can see its use for academics, but when I'm reading fiction I prefer to have screen numbers rather than page numbers. It works better for me. |

Hmm - didn't vote 'cos I'm an RTF bloke....... Don't care about TOC's etc. Images only an issue in a very few of the fiction books I read (and that's all I use my 505 for

I prefer LRF for the full justification.
I always buy books in a formats I can convert, and when I convert books I always set the base font size to 13, which is my preferred size. Then, when the book is opened it has just the right size and I don't have to fiddle with anything, anywhere. It just works, and I still have the file in a format I can convert in the future. |
