Harry--are you sure about this?

I admit I hadn't try it myself, but from Jeff Elkin's explanation of what the customizer will do:

Quote:
* No right justification turns off full or right justification for Sony's BBeB (LRF) books, forcing them to display a "ragged right." This is the default for EPUB.

It appears that you can make the 505 display LRF's without full justification.

next time ruth1304 is armed with how to do the test to get max page turns.

Not sure it is necessary to take test again , since in first test you were able to log over 4,000 page turns , over 12 days, also, changing font sizes. Also, pushing any menu button, or changing books, and everything else you do that changes how the screen looks is a page change.

Your test results fell within what I would expect if 7,000 pages are what sony came up with in optimal situation , probably done in one day, with them counting every screen change. Since battery left on standby in 12 days would also use battery life, 4,000 is war in peace ebook 2 1/2 times.

Doing the test again is more for my own satisfaction than anything else - partly to check the consistency of results etc, partly because my reading habits vary. I was pleased with the results as I never expect batteries to perform as well as manufacturers say. They usually base their figures on optimum conditions! Anything that gets used every day but only has to be charged every 12 days isn't doing too badly.

Would changing pictures (in full greyscale glory) take more juice than just a page of text?

Sorry - I thought that the previous poster was referring to turning off justification in the LRF file. What I meant was that you cannot choose, within the book itself, left or full justification - it's the device which "decides" how to display it and, by default, all LRFs are displayed fully justified.

Ok, I have now done 2 cycles through my PRS 505 battery, and came up with very similar results.

I have also tried fully charging and then sitting and pressing the page turn button. Got over 7500 and got bored and gave up (it must have been nearly empty as it was over 1000 page turns after the Low Battery warning).

So it seems sony is telling the truth with its battery life claims. I got over 4000 page turns before reaching the low battery warning, and it seems I could get more if I continued reading rather than charging at that point. As I read a lot out of the house I don't like to leave it at that stage because it would be a pain if the battery ran out.

Anyway, thought you'd all like to know I tried it and it does work!

congrats! You are the first person to actually in one sitting click over 7,000 times.
Good karma coming your way.
I think 4,000 over 2 or 3 weeks seems fair to me , with 7,000 in one sitting!
