If you find them, please inform me as well! I have Hood in Audible book but I ran out of subscription before the next two came out... (I have all the 5 Pendragons in Audible too).

Maybe - since many, if not most Topaz books, are ugly, ill-formatted, badly behaving, ebooks to have - nobody really wants to crack this format?

That would seem to me to be a perfect reason to break it, so that it can be converted and reformatted to a better file format.

Like, if they had a Kindle program you could install on the PC, load up the kindle-book, then copy/paste the text into a calibre or pdf or something.

So, instead of breaking the Kindle file format, simply get an emulator. Unless you need to break the code to emulate it. Probably you do.

I just went to http://www.stephenlawhead.com/ and sent him a message asking him to release his books in more popular formats. Not sure how it's going to go, but we'll see. I also invited him to join us here and learn more about ebooks and ebook formats and geta point of view from his fan-base.

Hopefully he'll sell epub, lit, pdf, or mobi versions soon.

Nah, way too much work and expense. Plus, knowing Amazon, I'd get a 300 dollar voucher for kindle books.

I am all about purchasing ebooks, but if the ONLY copy of an ebook is in a format that only 1 reader can read, THAT is underhanded, conniving, and should be totally illegal.

Trolling the darknet, I still have not found any OCR'd versions, except for ones in Spanish, but I'll keep looking. If anyone has a link to where I can purchase these books in NON-kindle format, please let me know.

I've been looking for those for months now, Griffonwing. They're just not out there. And yeah, I'm frustrated about it too. I've looked everywhere I can think of, legitimate and non, and nothing.

Well, someone needs to....If I knew anybody qualified, I'd have already been bugging them about it, however, all my friends are depressingly law abiding.

I, myself, an law-abiding. Well, mostly. My tags are still Missouri tags, even though I have lived in AR now for over 2 years, and the tags expired in Aug 08.

Even so, I'm not a criminal-type. Hoever, I see nothing wrong in breaking a monopolistic hold that Amazon seems to take to. Is what they are doing, law-abiding? What is the difference between law and fairness? Monopolies are against the law, and Amazon's Kindle-only book deals seem very much monopolistic to me. Hence, Amazon is breaking the law.

Cracking the format in order to share the book onto multiple readers should not be considered criminal. Look at the Jailbreaking of the iphone. There are named groups that pride themselves on jail-breaking the new securities, and you don't see them being charged as criminals and ported off to jail. The same can be said for the Kindle.

Cracking the format will only lead to more people reading!

Stand up against oppression!

LOL!! Well, if someone wants to pm Igorsk, maybe he'll take on the challenge. But I think he's more interested in Sony's these days, unfortunately.

Maybe he'd be willing to try and convert the AZW1/TPZ formats to BBeB?

LOL!! Maybe so. I agree with you on the general premise, and it isn't like we want to break the format to redistribute the books. The author and publisher would still get paid; we just want to be able to buy the book in the first place!

He does have other books in more mobile versions... I do have his entire pendragon series in audible and mobipocket version. So, I do have high hopes we'll also see his Robin Hood series on Fictionwise!

I had high hopes for that too, when I first started seeing the Hood trilogy advertised on Goodreads. But then I found out how long it had been out, and realized that either he signed an exclusive contract for those with Amazon that isn't going to run out anytime soon, or he decided Amazon was a better way to go, or something.
