I just checked out B&H's website and all they show is the different 505s.

Guess I'm actually lucky that I decided to wait! I really wanted one of these but I thought I'd wait to see if they reacted to all the comments on the contrast difference between the 505 and 700. There was a diffenece but it was definitely not as horrible as some said. I compared both at a local Borders.

Now I'm really curious if the oversized DX competitor comes out soon! Think I'll just wait on color. It's coming, hopefully along with wifi!

Hmm it shows it as "This product is no longer available for purchase." However, you can still "Add to Wishlist." =)

From reading all the negative reviews on the site, it seems pretty unanimous that the problem was with the lack of contrast and glare/reflection. Hopefully, Sony is able to maintain the functions of the 700 (perhaps even add more or improve current ones) and improve the screen. It probably would become a hot seller if Sony dealt with those issues.

I personally would like to see wi-fi added, but of course with the ability to turn it off to conserve battery power. But I like being able to access books off my computer without having to physically plug it in.

...and hopefully they will have a mechanism in place for us to send in our 700s for upgrade to the new version; or a firmware that would handle these things.

I just went to the Sony Store today in Menlo Park Mall, tried it, played with it, bought it. They seem to have plenty in stock and marketing it on the E-Reader pedestal.

You can find it by going to the Reader PRS-505 Dev Corner sub-forum. It's one of the sticky posts at the top.

hallo starbase,

ich bin in deutschland und habe einen sony reader prs 700 den ich im februar in kanada gekauft habe. er hat einen 1 a zustand. falls du willst kann ich ihn dir verkaufen, da ich wegen meinem studium leider nicht die zeit habe ausgiebeig zu lesen.
