best decision I've made in a while was marrying my wife.

Mid-term, quiting my no longer interesting and challenging career to care for my Mom for the last five years of her life. I learned so much and had some of the best and sadest times of my life.

Recent, buying the Kindle has had a huge impact on my life. Without a doubt the single most important devise in my life since my first personal computer.

Honorable mention, finding this place. How nice to find such interesting people.

Best recent financial related life decision was getting into the share market. Made a killing on those shares decimated in 2008 and bouncing back in 2009.

Best general life decision recently, was quitting the job which involved a 2.75 hrs commuting everyday and a 9 hour work day. In winter I'd get up in the dark, get home in the dark. Wouldn't see the sun from mon-fri. It was also a stressful position with incompetent bosses. So yeah leaving there was a good life decision.

To only fly first class. That was my New Year's resolution in 2007 and I've never regretted it!

Also starting my own business in 2004. We've been profitable since our 2nd quarter and are still going gangbusters.

Hmm giving up heavily caffinated(coffee) things end of 2005. Haven't looked back since. I do drink black tea or green tea from time to time but I'm not hooked on it.

Next best decision I need to take is giving up pop/soda drinks. Cola and such was already 2005 but there are others without caffine I drink a lot. And as I've drunk the last bottle I had at home I guess it's the perfect time. After that start looking into loosing weight with a low-none-excersise regime.

For me it was cutting cable tv a few months ago.

More time to read, better conversations with my wife etc.

One of the reasons we decided to cut it, was that we were getting cynical. We found ourselves watching stupid tv-shows that didn't even have any real entertainment value other than our ridiculing of the show or the contestants (but we still watched it so who were the idiots in the end).
I wish I could cut out cable TV, as I never watch TV (except football games sometimes). Unfortunately, my cable internet is tied to the cable TV (I can't have broad band internet without the cable tv, it's a requirement).
