Using PRS without the Connect Software - Page 2

Few comments...
1. Given I code virtual machine as a living I will suggest you not to use VM to update F/W on any USB device. Some of the "command " use during a F/W update just doesn't translate well.
2. Calibre is much better than the Sony S/W. I don't use it myself because the current version have problem handling some Japanese and Chinese encoded book.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that you need to have the Sony Library installed on a Windows machine if you want your PRS to show up in Adobe Digital Editions.

Why do you want your PRS to show up in ADE? So that you can authorize it and display DRM'ed ePubs and PDFs such as those you might download from your local library.

There are workarounds for this, but whether they are legal depends on what jurisdiction you live in.
