Ohh, yes, there's a major difference there! Just that feel of pbooks makes me want to buy one. But when I'm reading in bed, it's just so annoying it's not backlit...

I like ebooks because you don't lose them in a flood. Imagine the pain of watching hundreds of books being shoveled up and loaded in a dumpster.
I like the ereader because it's easier to hold. I've had trouble with my wrists for years, and it hurts to have to hold a paper book because of having to physically hold the pages open. I like the ereader because I can keep a hundred or so books with me at all times. I like that it always keeps my place for me, and I like that everyone in my family can read the same book at the same time, if we want. I like that I can have the newest releases on my ereader at 12:01 am on release day and can probably have finished reading it by the time bookstores open. I do like the smell of paper books, and I think a room full of full bookshelves looks marvelous. I still have those bookshelves filled up with books. It's just that almost all new books I buy are in digital format. |

I find it hard to read a pbook anymore. I've got a couple thousand of them and do still read them, but find the experience of reading an ebook better for me. That wasn't always the case and didn't happen until I got my first eInk reader. When I was trying to use a PDA or phone as a reader I prefered pbooks a lot.
I no longer buy pbooks at all although I'm sure someday that will change when I can't find a book I just must have. At least for regular fiction books. I still buy some reference books in paper. They're more something you might flip through and don't navigate as well in e-format. Last edited by AnemicOak; 06-18-2009 at 11:57 AM. |
