No....I believe the offer is only for $30 or $60 rewards. If you buy $30 certificate, you get $30 rewards and if you buy $60 certifcate you get $60 rewards.

I ordered my certificate around this time of night, and when I woke up the next morning I had an email saying I'd gotten my rewards.

I bought $60 Gift Certificate last night.

I wanted to send it to my worst enemy, but s/he doesn't deserve it - not one penny.

Now hoping (soon) to have $120 to play with.

Just remember to sort thru the book you want to buy. Get the ones with the LEAST (preferably zero) rewards dollars and use your rewards dollars to buy those. That's because if you use rewards dollars, you can't earn any rewards.

Then buy those with the largest rewards with the gift certificate (or do these first, but since you have $100 of books and $120 to play with, I'd reserve any GC credit for future purchases). This will result in more rewards and you should still have some credit left over.

Here's the message I got from Books On Board:

Your Rewards have been credited to your account! [ME: WHY ARE THEY SO EXCITED?]

To redeem your Gift Certificate:

Log into your BooksOnBoard account and Select the purple gift box icon. Enter the case sensitive code displayed on your gift certificate. Gift certificates may be printed or emailed, or simply viewed within your account.

Entering your certificate code in the space provided during checkout will apply funds from the balance available. You may apply rewards and gift certificate dollars simultaneously, however, the use of rewards dollars will disqualify a transaction from earning additional rewards. Purchases with any amount of rewards dollars applied as payment do not earn rewards dollars. Purchases made with Gift Certificate dollars will earn the rewards dollars available on the titles...

My $60 purchase should now be $120 - is that right?

Can anyone advise me, procedurally, on the best way to use this so I don't get "contractually screwed"?

If you log in to your Books on Board account, from the My Account page you will have various options, and two on the right will be "Gift Certificates" and "Rewards".

If you click on "Rewards" it should tell you that you have a reward balance of $60 - that's the bonus you got for buying the Gift Certificate.

If you click on "Gift Certificates" there should be a space at the top of the page for you to enter a code, and below that should be a section called Purchased Gift Certificates, where you will see the $60 gift certificate you bought, with the code. If you put the code in the box at the top of the page and click Register! the gift certificate will appear under Registered Gift Certificates.

Now when you buy books, you will have a $60 Gift Certificate balance you can use AND a $60 Reward Balance.

As someone has already mentioned, Books on Board offers various levels of reward dollars with some books. When you use Gift Certificates you will also get the reward for the book added to your reward balance. However when you redeem your Reward Balance you won't earn rewards. So it's best to use the Rewards for books that don't offer much in the way of reward dollars, and the gift certificate balance for books that have high rewards.

Hope that all helps!

My "Rewards" is showing only a previous balance of 22 cents. It is NOT showing me the $60 that you mention.

When I click on "Gift Certificates," I do indeed see the $60 credited to my account, along with the code.

I'm concerned now because I don't see $120 anywhere.

Am I overlooking something very simple?

Sorry, to get the deal you had to forward the purchase receipt to rewards@booksonboard.com

You then get an email from them titled Double Reward Dollars from BooksOnBoard which begins:

Thank you for your purchase.

Your Double Rewards Dollars have been credited to your account!

I thought that was the one you had already received because it also contains all the details about how to redeem your gift certificate.

The time it takes to add the extra reward dollars seemed to vary depending on how busy they were.

Also you never have $120 anywhere, it's $60 in your gift certificates area and $60 in the rewards, which is separate.

I think he means that TOTAL it would be $120...originally, I also thought they would be lumped together. but they are seperate. When it comes time to order a book though, when you get to the checkout screen, it will have a box for you to enter amounts to pay for the rewards and gift certificates (hopefully this makes sense).

And be sure and email your reciept to the rewards email. Normally, the rewards are credited automatically for books, but for some reason on gift certificates they are not.

Yes, I did email them.

The italicized quotes from my earlier post was what I received about 24 hours later.

Let me look over your comments and one following yours, and see if I can make sense out the promotion.

As Kelly1010 mentions below yours, I did think I would have a lump sum of $120 to play with.

I'm still concerned, however, because I don't see $60 credited in the "Rewards" section -- unless it shows me this when I'm ready to purchase a book.

I'll go ahead now and buy two books. My understanding is that I should have a choice to use the $60 Rewards or the $60 Gift Certificate - even though $60 in Rewards is currently not showing.

Do you think I should email them again?

Thanks for the help, everyone. It's much appreciated.
