If only these strangers wouldn't have to be so shy and could exchange ideas over the internet in a public forum, perhaps even update a wiki. Ah, what a breadth of fresh air such freedom would be, if it could exist.

Well, they could, but Amazon chased them all away.

type 411 from the settings screen to get the serial number. Remember to use the alt-key.

Hello,
When I put the serial into the MobiPocket Reader it does not accept it. Why? Can someone help? MobiReader 6.2 problem, maybe? |

This is normal. Amazon owns MobiPocket and they have disallowed Kindle PIDs from MobiPocket sourced ebooks. You can use the PID with MOBI ebooks provided by OverDrive, e.g. from Books on Board and from lending libraries. You can also use it to strip the DRM from AZW ebooks via mobidedrm.

Yes. If you want to strip the DRM from an existing MOBI ebook, then use the PID from a device that reads the ebook (e.g. your Windows Desktop). To strip the DRM from an AZW ebook, use the KDX's PID. Note that not all AZW's have DRM (if not, just rename them from .azw to .mobi and you are good to go). Finally, stripping DRM for personal use is legal in more places than you might think but it isn't legal everywhere.

My guy told me to adjust the kindlepid script for the DX Global with
<CODE DELETED VIOLATES MR POLICY TO ALLOW THIS HERE> My guy adjusted this in Dreamweaver, and got a perfectly fine PID when running the command in DOS ![]() Last edited by pilotbob; 04-03-2010 at 01:22 PM. Reason: code removed |
