A place to find a used kindle

I was surfing around and found a site that basically strips out "spammy" kindle ebay auctions. Makes it pretty easy to find used kindles on the cheap.

www.usedkindlegear.com

Hope that helps!

You have to be sure that the unit is working when buying used. Other than that, its a good strategy.

I bought one of my Kindles new, one used from someone here, and one refurbished from Amazon. My DX has not arrived yet. All of my Kindles had the remainder of the warranty from Amazon. They know from the registration number when the device was first sold, and it has a one year warranty dating from the first sale.

I've never bought from Craigslist, however, I have heard some rather unpleasant stories about people buying and selling from there. However, I would not hesitate to purchase a used device from one of the people that I have met here and who I have known for a while.

As for squaretrade .... never heard of it, so I can't comment on it.

Probably a lot fo sale on EBay now, as people upgrade to DX.
But as Gideon mentioned there might be a lot of guys around these forums selling theirs. Just make sure you get pics of the kindle and make sure it's not damaged, talk to the seller on the phone if possible, use insured post and use paypal with buyer protection, so if the seller tries to scam you, you can use paypal to get your money back.
