Yes - home from the office now for food then out to meet friends to listen to a local band. And then it's the weekend! (But you will still be having your weekend when I'm getting up on Monday )

Thank you for reminding me! What with my husband home everyday (no*paying* work, though there's always barn work!) and regularly scheduled weekly activities done for the school year, I'm completely lost as to what day it is anymore! I could've sworn it was Saturday today, which tells you how exciting Fridays are around here!

Well, I can always look and see what's playing at the drive-in! Still waiting for that "family-film-first followed by grown-up movie" combination! (pulling up the website) Drat! It's Terminator Salvation followed by Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Maybe next weekend... please remind me again when Friday rolls around!

You speak as though Friday is already over, sunflower. There's still half the day left . . . it's earlier than you think.

Well, we did enjoy a beautiful day of hiking in the local State Park with friends! And we got our pool filled up. My daughter took a dip, although the water is way too cold for me! If the wind dies down this evening, as it usually does, we may have a campfire out back! It has been a pretty nice day all in all!

Now I just need to remember that tomorrow is Saturday!
P.S. Eye love your new avatar! I'm thinking it's time to take my psock off.

So, what will you wear when you take your psock off.

Don't overdress. It's summertime.

Do you remember as an adolescent being told in school that work weeks would be of 4 days? What ever happened to that promise?

Now you're expected to work 5- 10/hour days and they want you to come in on saturdays also!

Well, here in California, my former employer informed this is called "getting a salary" as opposed to being paid hourly. (I am now earning more and working less even though it is "hourly". Ha!)

I sure DO remember those statements from school.

Oh, how gullible we were.

When getting paid hourly at a previous job I regularly worked an average of 12 hours a day and some Saturdays. During some special project times I'd work from 7 am till 1 am that night (or the following morning) and be back at work at 7 am again (back in the younger days, of course.) But at least I would get paid overtime, even if I never got a vacation.

The first salaried job I ever had, I regularly worked from 12 to 14 hours a day for about 9 years and usually at least 1 Saturday a month with the promise that I could get another day off in it's place. That NEVER happened.

Now I usually only work about 9-10 hours a day and hardly ever a Saturday.

Being salaried usually means you still get paid when you're out sick, etc., although you don't get paid any overtime. But I've NEVER been one to take time off, ot take many (hardly any) vacation days, so when you figure it all out, hourly pay works out to be much lower and the employer definitely gets the better part of the deal overall.

But I can't complain. I AM employed and I like my job AND my employer(s).

Life is basically good.

Still, I'd love to do the 4-day work week. Somehow, the older you get, the more precious your time is. And I never seem to get enough of it.
