Just make a mockup. I always do.

1. Download an image of your favourite reading device from net.

2A. Load an image into your favourite graphics program (I use AutoCAD, because this is what I use at work and I can put image into scale very quickly) you can use Corel Draw, Inkscape (free software) or OpenOffice.org Draw and print the picture in 1:1 scale

2B If you do not have such program as in 2A just print the picture, measure it and make a copy using photocopying machine (Xerox for Americans here) to make a copy in scale so you get 1:1 scale (computing the zoom for the copier from original dimensions and dimensions of printed image is left as an exercise for the reader ;-) )

3. Glue the picture into a piece of cardboard of apropriate thickness.

Worried? Why would one be worried about the larger screen size? It's not that large. Many books are larger.

I would be worried about breakage - it seems the screen would be even more fragile than the Kindle 2, due to the larger size.

But since I'm not planning on buying one, it's a moot point to me.

Amazon was worried. That is why they offer a feature to limit the line length to provide an easier read experience.

Not sure why, since the line-length is less than that of a regular hardcover?

Unless you go down to the smallest point-size (but then limiting the line-length would kind of defeat the purpose....)

In any event, I wouldn't worry too much. The larger screen does get the real estate closer (but not quite,) to that of a normal book, so unless you have trouble with regular size books, you shouldn't have trouble with the K DX.

Also, the Kindle has a very rigid shell, so if you are reasonably careful, the screen should hold-up fine.
