Just as long as you don't buy the "The Dreamers" series. I found that quite horrible to read.
Those prices are pretty ridiculous though, even when you ignore the lack of offered content.

Sad news indeed. Another one of my favoured authors is gone. I love Eddings atypical writing style and the great characters in his books. Farewell Mr. Eddings.

Please don't allow your own prejudices to scare off new readers.

What you don't like, others just may.

By all means, people. Try the "Dreamers" series. Decide for yourself.

Same. I enjoyed reading the Belgariad and Malloreon series. The Belgariad was the second fantasy novel/series I read as a young adult. The Wheel of Time, I can't seem to get past the introduction on the first book yet.

I'll be re-reading my paperback copies to pay homage.

When I finished the Belgariad for the first time as a teenager, I had to go over to the bookshelf, grab the first book, and start over again. I'd enjoyed hanging out with the characters so much that I just wasn't ready to say goodbye to them yet.

Eddings will certainly be missed.

He will be missed, certainly.

Some of his books I enjoyed, while some titles were not very good, in my opinion. I think I share my reaction with zerospinboson's view, although not with that particular title.

One must pick and choose with any author's writings. Some titles are more accessible to a reader than other titles.

Among his poorer received titles, there are a lot of other titles that are excellent reads. One must pick and choose with any writer.

I also enjoyed some of the work he did with his wife.

My personal favourite is "The Redemption of Althalus", although I know that not everyone shares my liking for it.

Not sure if it's my favorite, but I definitely found it enjoyable. As a single work, I definitely prefer it to most others (although Belgarath would be a close second, with him wasting/spending 30 years to watch grass grow and mountains erode :P)

It's only fair to warn you that some people think it's his worst book, but I think it's excellent.

I wouldn't say it's his worst book, i enjoyed it, as a standalone book it works very well in my opinion.

David Eddings was one of my favourite authors I must have read the Belgariad and the Malloreon 30 times over the years. However I have to agree with zerospinboson about the Dreamers I was looking forward to them for a long time and I forced myself to finish the series after the second book they truly were awful the only reason I read the remaining books was because it was David Eddings and I felt sure they must get better... sadly I was wrong.

He will still be sorely missed.
