I haven't watched the Youtube video, but I do have one suggestion, in case it wasn't mentioned in the video. Watch out for static. Make sure you discharge yourself before handling the RAM or opening the netbook. Handle the RAM by the edges as an added precaution. Otherwise, changing RAM on these things is very easy.

Enjoy your 1000HE. You made a good choice. I have the same model

I ordered black, but whatever comes is ok with me, I'm not choosy about what it looks like, just how it runs.

I just picked up a Seagate 250 GB SATA hdd to load Win7 on so I can keep the original drive pristine, or use it to hobby linux on (as long as I have a restore DVD/partition). I sure hope swapping the hdd is as easy as they say.

Yeah, thanks.

I live Hawaii! We don't have static here (high humidity). In a former life I spent ten years working as a PC Tech, and never once did I put on an antistatic strap, nor did I ever fry a component because of static.

Now if you happen to live in Arizona, or Lost Wages well ...

I did it on my 901. I went to Microcenter and bought the card, took out the 2 screws, removed the old one and put the new one in.

You can do it!

If you're not planning on keeping the OS and your old programs intact, swapping hard drives is extremely easy (provided your new HDD is not DOA). With RAM, it's possible for the system not to boot-up if there's a problem (e.g. not seated properly, incompatible, DOA, etc) and you only get beeps to notify you of the error. If you replace your HDD and encounter a problem, at least you'll get a display notifying you what the error is (even if the terms seem somewhat obscure). You can also go to the BIOS to troubleshoot.

Just a thought. I don't think the 1000HE comes with an optical drive. If you don't have a USB DVD/CD-ROM drive and don't plan on buying one, I suggest Googling now for instructions on how to install your OS of choice from a USB flash drive/hard drive to prevent frustration further down the line.
