Ok after doing some research I see where I was wrong. Apparently you can download mobi books from the library and put them on a kindle (which the selection is very limited, based on my experience). I'm still not sure about the pdf files though. I read that drm couldn't be stripped from secure pdf files. Oh well. I learned something today, thats the important thing!

Before the library issue impacts you much, I'd check your local library to see if they offer ebooks, and if they offer anything you'd want.

Mine finally does. But nothing I want.

Now it can, see Adobe ADEPT DRM for PDF circumvented.

I had an epiphany while getting a pedicure (after using a Sony 505 vs. 700 at Borders) and decided to go with the 505 RED! I was in luck, although I know you can get good deals online (ebay, etc.) I opted for the instant gratification of shopping at Fry's Electronics and got the Sony PRS 505 for only $249 (instore price). I also picked up the cover/light to help me make it through the night. ;-)

P.S. yes it is charging!

CONGRATULATIONS!! I have the blue, but I almost wish I had gotten the red now. I also have the lightwedge and I love that too (another selling point for the sony). I even use it in the daytime sometimes, it's nice to have that extra bit of light.

Happy reading and feel free to come on over to the Sony 505 forum.

and BTW $249 is a great price compared to alot of the websites I found two months ago when I was shopping for mine. I got mine for $269 but I did find my lightwedge for $249. Ironically, both were through amazon.

Thanks! I feel I have graduated from the "I have no idea what I want" through the "I don't know which one" to the "I HAVE ONE" mode! I will gladly now enter into the realm of the 505 forum now that I have one.

BTW, I had to get a red as it's the fastest one (and only color they had)!

Please tell me you didn't pay $249 for the lightwedge and it was a typo! I paid $50.
