I have read that sliding the off/on button to the right and HOLDING IT FOR AT LEAST 15 SECONDS will reboot the Kindle, and you should have full functionality back. The "15 seconds or more" is important - otherwise you'll just be turning it off.

Mine locked up too.

I Just had the same experience as you did. (And I also purchased my Kindle 2 in March.) When I plugged it into the wall-socket however, it did recover to the extent that I could use it again. I then looked up trouble-shooting for the Kindle after the fact and found out that they recommend just what I did - that you should plug it in to make it recover. The only problem that is left is that I cannot get the home page to show the most recently used items first. I have to scroll to the last page to get them at the end of the line. I'm watching it carefully and if it doesn't completely return to normal I will then send it in for repair or for a new one. Otherwise, I LOVE my Kindle!

Kindle is properly charged. Just bought it in March!

I'm overseas at the moment so I sure hope I don't have to fool with sending it back and paying the excessively high shipping rates both ways!

Anyone have similar problems and maybe a fix?

Sounds like your kindle has the wrong date/time set. Try changing the network from the automatically selected one to another one to see if you can get the time and date to be correct. Then if you go and open each of the books at the very end of the list they'll appear at the start from now on. You'll also need to re-select automatic network selection once you've had the date updated.

When that happens, just turn on the wireless. After connecting to Amazon the date will return to the correct date and the books will be in the order you want - most recently read (opened) book will be the first book on the Menu list.

This happened to me with my NON-international version. When I travelled back to the U.S. and turned it on, everything was corrected.

Have you got wireless enabled? If not, you won't get the ability to sort by most recently viewed. The solution is to enable wireless long enough to reset the time of day.

I've had this problem ever since I've had my Kindle, as I'm outside Whispernet range. It's a nuisance, but one that I can live with.
