Thanks for the tip. Just tried to send you a PM but not sure if I have to have so many posts before it lets me send PMs?

Can you (or anyone else) confirm - if I download the US Sony software, does this mean I cant download the Uk version? Can I have both as applications on my computer or is it one or the other?

If I chose to download the US version, does that invalidate my warranty or anything? And would it prevent me from being able to buy from Waterstones in the future (in case prices do start to go lower, I might want to buy from there)?

Thanks for all advice for a complete noob

You do not need to use the UK version at all and it will not invalidate your warranty. You can register your reader at the Sony UK website.

I have never downloaded the UK software and only use the US software. The advantage to doing this is that you get the sony freebies and access to the google epubs. The UK version just opens the Waterstones website which doesn't offer the freebies. You don't even need the sony software to buy books from Waterstones, just Adobe Digital Editions.

Thanks for the tip Curly. That's great.

Just got an email from play saying my ebook has been posted but it then went on to say 3-5 days for delivery.

So I thought I was going to be this weekend..... but no such luck. boo hoo. Oh well I will just spend my time looking for freebies and registering the US software instead.

As soon as I saw it had gone down to £179 again I pulled that trigger....hard Grabbed a screen protector and the Sandisk 2gb twinpack with it (only £9.99!) I remember paying 100 quid for my 64meg card "back in the day".

It's currently listed as "packing" so hopefully it wont be too long.
