I'm more curious if there's some sort of weekly "clean-up" job that eliminates indexes for books that are not longer on the device. Deleting a book via the Kindle menu may or may not delete the index, but deleting it via USB certainly doesn't. Unfortunately there's no clear way to figure out which index file is associated with which book, plus there's other stuff stored in a single central database file as well.

For a select group this can be a good test, but I don't expect all schools to follow up any time soon.
A lot of schools have problem youngsters, that love destroying those expensive toys, and steal others. I don't think anyone would want to steal a binder or a book from someone in school, but a kindle is a different story... |

This already is being discussed in another thread. No need to gravedig.

It might be helpful to link to the other thread. This thread suddenly re-appeared in my watch list (past posts), but I myself haven't the faintest where the discussion is being held currently (and so might other people)..

This is a major limitation for the Kindle in the educational sector. Until they rectify this, you are better off getting a 13" laptop for college work. The potential is there, but Amazon is dropping the ball at the moment. |

Still, I wouldn't yet want to trade my PC+iLiad combo for a single device. Last edited by zerospinboson; 09-29-2009 at 07:29 PM. |
