The new ones have more color choices, slightly different styling, and a slot for the yet-to-be-released booklight. Other than that, they appear to be the same.

I have one of the old ones, and I love it. If you're not wanting the matching booklight, I'd say take advantage of the low price on the discontinued models. I wish I'd waited a week - I'd have saved $10.

Does it have a pen holder or a space for the light to go like the new one? I wonder why people have complained of odor, glue?

It has an elastic loop to hold a pen. It does not have the slot for the light - that's a feature on the new one.

I like the way mine smells - I have no complaint about that.

I'm very pleased with my grey/black executive cover. Sometimes if it's crowded on the Metro I'll fold the cover back and wear my reader on my hand like a glove (I can still hit the disc-shaped page buttons with my thumb).
