It still has probably too many cutouts, but I do like the look of it

That is exactly what I want, but in a different color. I can't find any in the US. Can anyone point me to a US seller?

Now that the weather is warming up here, I just slide my Reader (in the stock cover) into a pocket on my cargo shorts! Maybe that won't work in England...

The silicon skin arrived and I am quite impressed but I dont think I will use it.

There was not as many cut outs as I thought, one at the top for the memory cards, but that was it (obvisouly the screen as well). Problem is, the power switch was hard to use as you had to flick it through the silicon, and you would have to take it out of the skin if you wanted to charge it.

Also, with the skin on, the tri-fold cover would not close properly as the skin was too thick.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Not the most elegant solution, but if you're just worried about the rain as you are walking why not just have a ziplock bag on standby in a pocket. That way you can have whatever cover you want and rain protection.

There are plenty of vinyl waterproof bags available that will work perfectly for you. You can find them at camping supply shops sold as 'map cases.' You can also find these being sold at photo shops as 'gear bags.' I have some that will keep my reader safely dry underwater! Not expensive, these bags come in many different sizes and qualities depending upon how much you want to spend. When not covering the reader, they can fold up and comfortably fit in your pocket. For something even lighter, look for 'Alosak' bags. These are 'mil-spec' plastic 'ziplock' style bags that are also sized and completely waterproof. They are much stronger than kitchen zip-locks, and will hold up for a good long time. Good value for the money!

I have been looking for a cover too. What I would like to find is a zippered cover that can also fit the cover the 505 came with. I have in mind something that you'd find on a day planner that zips all the way around.

These can be found in larger computer shops. I bought two; one made from neoprene and one made with sorbothane. Both are simple fold-over items with a zipper that goes around three sides. I wanted something that would fit the Sony with its factory cover on it, that I could just slide the reader into from the top, so I zipped it up then cut off one end, gluing the zipper shut on the long side and the bottom. This is more for cushioning rather than what the OP is looking for. For that, you could just leave the zipper as is. It would be very water-repellent, but not water-proof. I put the neoprene cover inside the sorbothane cover, together they still are less than an inch larger than the reader, and fit in my jacket pocket or the front zipper pocket of my day pack and protect the reader very well.

Just for info, I tried the proporta silicon case on the reader, and then in the original cover that came with it, and it did actualy fit nicely. Still prefer the trifold cover though.

I am having a go using my Proporta Gadget bag instead, smaller than my man bag, its still an over the shoulder bag. Hope it doesn;t look too much like a handbag.

You might want to check out the BookArmor cases - I have one for my 700 which fits inside with the original Sony case still on.

LOL! When I want something nicer looking and a bit smaller than my daypack, I just use one of my wife's large handbags! Why not? I've been abroad for 20 years!

That looks interesting. Can it fold back on itself the way the original cover does?

Well, I am back to using my Man Bag. Can't really do without the storage for carrying stuff back and forth to work.

I found the ultimate Man Bag for me at Target the other night.

The Swiss Gear Vertical Travel Bag.

It is also on Amazon, here:
SwissGear at Amazon

This thing has a pocket for everything. The back compartment is a perfect size for the Reader in about any case and I have spots just for my phone, iPod, sunglasses, and lots of other stuff without it taking up too much room.
