As I said - two different uses - 6" for "outside" and big needed for home reading and technical books.

That's true... however I don't think it's quite like that. Think of it like this, the approach of "one for home and one for the road" is more akin to the mind set of a gaming console for instance: you have your Xbox 360 and your PSP. However when it comes to reading I think it's a very different story.

What I'm saying is that the reading experience is different from a consumer's point of view. Most of us don't want to have the BEST EREADER EVER, we just want the one that's best for our purposes. I wouldn't see many of us buying a large screen PRS if we already have one, not unless the improvement is such that renders our trusted reader unbearable.

I would really love this large screen dream if its materials were of sturdier stuff. I mean, I would like to know that I can place the reader in my backpack without any fear of its screen getting scratched or broken, a fear that I might say would increase with screen size. Color isn't such a big deal if we can do 16 shades of gray but PDF support that's REAL, that woud be awesome. No more reformatting and cropping and so on...

Not sure about backpack but I need big screen to read PDFs , the technical books mainly , and of course I prefer to read from big screen.
So for me both are good enough reasons to get big screen.

it is undebatable that every user has different needs. Being a scholar I completely understand the lure of the big screen reader, however this device really replaces the paper articles only if your the type of reader that has a "neat" approach to their reading habits. I am the type that if I have a paper to do I need all the sources i am using in front of me in the paper format with all my notes and higlights. This is why i cannot envision using it as an academic tool; so the only other use really is leisure reading which is why I will wait for my PRS to expire
