I posted this in another discussion topic, but can someone explain exactly what "native" PDF support really means? Will I still have to send the PDF to Amazon to have it uploaded onto the DX (for a fee) or can I do it myself directly from my Mac (for free)?

It means that they don't get converted to MOBI and displayed by a MOBI Reader, but rather stay as PDFs and get displayed by a PDF Reader. You can copy the PDFs from your Mac via USB for free. Note that they must be DRM-free (i.e. Secure Adobe ebooks won't work unless you strip the DRM).

Well I agree that Amazon is dropping the ball by not "integrating" the PDF supprt with annotation, indexing, etc. I mean, how hard is it to spin a different metadata file? Don't they have any programmers?

Maybe I'm just paranoid but I suspect a marketing maneuver here. You may have to pay for the extra functions.
