No no, it worked before I formatted the device. I only had books in the internal memory. Also the example books where delivered on the internal space.

That's BAD news.

Well, being able to read ePUB (and folders!) is great news, but the fact that they dropped support for even DRM-free Mobipocket is really bad news.

I'd say for the moment you are stuck with ePUB, unless you want to downgrade to an older firmware. Hopefully, in a few weeks (sic) there will be a definitive version of the new firmware and you'd at least be able to choose between ePUB and Mobipocket versions.

so what folders, if any, do you have in the internal ?

system
fonts
ebooks

I'm trying to get my head around the issue of being able to read from the SD, but not the internal....

the internal memory is now blank really blank, no folders files hidden files or folders, just nothing. I can start the cybook even if I remove the sd card. But then it just displays an empty library.

dang it -

you need to get copies of system and fonts folders from somewhere - can you get them from the bookstore; otherwise it'll have to be Bookeen .... not too sure if these folders from older cybooks will work ....

according to the manual the important folder is the system folder....

It wouldn't surprise me if they do not have a license to provide the reader without support for DRM. Bookeen's reader is based on code from MobiPocket. Of course if they opened up the platform somebody could port FBReader...

When I get home, I can send you my backuped files (minus the example ebooks). Maybe it just needs the system and font files and those will be compatible with your version.

About being impossible to downgrade firmware, I guess we should have seen that coming. Of course Bookeen wouldn't make it easy to make their ePub version able to read mobipocket files (even if the user decided to dismiss ePub compatibility).

But it's a slopy work there, leaving the manual and example books in mobi format, when the device can only read ePub.

Over in the german forum we have been talking about this at length. Bottom line: This is a Release candidate of the new firmware that only supports ePub. No support whatsoever for Mobis on this one. The final version of the firmware, we are not sure about the supported formats, but it seems as if at least one version of the fw will be supporting Mobipocket.

And yep, stripping MOBI/PRC support but leaving the manual as it is = reckless

So do the ePUB reader have page numbers? And what about justification?
