Freddy the Pig - series.
Chip Hilton - series.
Tom Swift - series.
Hardy Boys - series.
Louis L'amour - author - westerns.
...and pretty much anything I could get my hands on from the school library, town library, and the UofA extension library.

I loved the Adventure books by Willard Price; e.g African Adventure, Volcano Adventure and so on, there must have been a dozen or more of them and looking back now, I guess they were all pretty formulaic - still great reads for a young boy.

Also loved the Professor Branestawm books.

Leo Lionni's Fish is Fish, followed closely by Frederick. I'm not sure that anything written since has captured the power of imagination so beautifully.

The Mad Scientists' Book Club (and its sequels) are also great, but hard to find.

Chronicles of Narnia (like MelC The Horse and His Boy was my Favorite as well)
Rascal by Sterling North
The Swiss Family Robinson
Lone Wolf series by Joe Dever (very similar in concept to Choose Your Own Adventure but way better)

Just remembered the Tarzan books. I loved those too. So much different than the movies. He learned French before he learned English, went to Paris with a frenchman he rescued before he ever went to London. I remember fondly re-reading the first 7 or 8 of them several times.

Too many to decide on a favourite...

Superfudge by Judy Blume
Any Roald Dahl book
Any Enid Blyton
Meg and Mog
Garden Gang

And then in my early teens, I loved all the Sweet Valley High series! : )

They're no longer hard to find thanks to Purple House Press:

No ebooks though, as far as I know.
