I loved the Adventure books by Willard Price; e.g African Adventure, Volcano Adventure and so on, there must have been a dozen or more of them and looking back now, I guess they were all pretty formulaic - still great reads for a young boy.

Also loved the Professor Branestawm books.

Leo Lionni's Fish is Fish, followed closely by Frederick. I'm not sure that anything written since has captured the power of imagination so beautifully.

I also loved White Fang. Read it many times and a local book called Jock Of The Bushveld by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick. (very un PC now).

Trixie Belden (Glad to see some other fans here...it kills me that my 8 yr old doesn't seem to like them)

Just remembered the Tarzan books. I loved those too. So much different than the movies. He learned French before he learned English, went to Paris with a frenchman he rescued before he ever went to London.

I remember fondly re-reading the first 7 or 8 of them several times.
